    Changes and Innovation

    Eneco has been active in the energy sector for over 100 years. They provide 100% green energy, generated by wind and sun in our own country. In 2017, the Eneco Group was divided into an energy company (Eneco) and a grid operator (Stedin). A year later, Eneco announced a change in the organizational structure. 'In addition to these developments, we also bring about many changes through innovations,' says Marco Verhoef, Product Owner SAP Cloud Integration at Eneco, 'We not only deliver energy, but also help customers become self-sufficient.' For example, with solar panels, smart thermostats, and compact heat pumps that recycle heat in the home.

    Flexibility

    To support all these changes, according to Verhoef, it is necessary for both people and IT systems to be flexible. Standardizing processes with standard cloud software helps with this. Guido Koopmann, Manager Technology at Acorel, says: 'Cloud solutions contribute to shorter lead times, enabling innovation. An additional advantage is cost savings. You pay for usage and not for keeping a system running. Responsibility for deploying upgrades lies with the supplier.'

    SAP Cloud Platform Integration

    With the help of Acorel, Eneco chose to implement SAP Cloud Platform Integration (CPI). According to Verhoef, it was 'a bold move' because CPI was a new product at that time and still in development. Koopmann says: 'It is important to quickly bring the right people together.' They succeeded. Eneco and Acorel migrated all Eneco interfaces in 2 years.

    Simplicity Drives Innovation

    SAP CPI saves Eneco 50 to 60 percent annually compared to the previous on-premise system. And the simplicity of the system drives innovation. 'We can now deliver new solutions much faster than before,' says Verhoef. 'In CPI, you can start developing immediately. Our customers also benefit from this!'
